Gwen Stefani donates to Japan earthquake victims
Gwen Stefani has become the latest celebrity to donate $1 million to those affected by the recent Japanese earthquake.
The No Doubt singer has followed in the footsteps of Sandra Bullock and Demi Lovato by making the generous donation to aid victims of the natural disaster, which has left tens of thousands dead and hundreds of thousands of people homeless.
Gwen - who was frequently flanked by a team of Japanese Harajuku girls when she promoted her debut album 'Love. Angel. Music. Baby' - said: ''I've been inspired by Japan for many years and have a true love, appreciation and respect for the Japanese people and their culture.
''The disaster in Japan is beyond heartbreaking, and I want to do anything I can to help. I would never be able to make a gesture like this without the love and support of all the fans over all these years.''
Gwen's donation will go to Save the Children's Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund from the Save the Children charity.
Meanwhile, Justin Bieber fans will be able to help the earthquake victims by paying to take a photo with a lock of his hair.
The star donated the hair cuttings to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres in March, and they were subsequently auctioned.
The hair has since been loaned to Stone Rose men's apparel company, who are inviting fans in Miami, Florida, to make a donation to pose next to the hair. The first 50 who appear at the event on Tuesday (29.03.11) will also receive a free poster of the star.
