REC Solar moves east, away from sunny heartlands

A solar energy company says it is serving more and more customers on the American East Coast and will soon have 4.1 megawatts of commercial electricity generation projects operating.

REC Solar says more contracts with major retail companies are on the way.

REC Solar is already California's biggest supplier of residential solar power and is expanding to the East Coast from New Jersey to the Northeast.

"REC Solar's goal has always been to bring solar into the mainstream, and our expertise in other states like Hawaii, California, Colorado and Arizona guides our East Coast expansion," said Angiolo Laviziano, CEO of REC Solar.

"As solar continues to become cost competitive with traditional energy sources, commercial and residential consumers in new markets across the northeast will benefit from our guidance."

REC says its work with major brands, including IKEA and Harris Tea, makes it a leader in the American solar energy industry. A ribbon-cutting event is scheduled at Harris Tea in July to celebrate the unveiling of their new system.

"This is an exciting time for the company as well as energy consumers in the Northeast," said David Morosoli, VP and general manager of commercial for REC Solar.

"We are glad to be a part of the rapid pace of solar adoption by educating customers about the affordability and lucrative returns that solar energy can deliver to their business."
