Blink-182 and Linkin Park raising money for Japan
More celebrities including band Blink-182, Linkin Park and Charlie Sheen have pledged to raise money for Japan.
Following the devastating 8.9 magnitude quake last Friday (11.03.11) many celebrities have urged their twitter followers to donate to the Red Cross relief effort, but some raising the stakes higher with auctions and donations.
Blink-182 singer Mark Hoppus is auctioning off band memorabilia to raise money, including his original handwritten lyrics from the song 'Rock Show'- which has already reached bids of $20,300 - an orange shirt he wore in the video to 'Dammit' and a promotional CD for the track 'What's My Age Again'.
Mark tweeted: ''Thanks to everyone at @ebay for their help with the auctions. They are going above and beyond. Respect. (sic)''
Rock band Linkin Park's vocalist and guitarist, Mike Shinoda, has designed two T-shirts which will benefit charity to aid their efforts in Japan. One design features a butterfly and the band's logo, while the other has the words 'Not Alone' across the chest. Both designs are available through the band's official website now.
Actor Charlie Sheen has also pledged to donate one dollar for every ticket sold from his forthcoming spoken word shows in the US to the Japanese cause.
Meanwhile Google CEO Eric Schmidt and wife, Wendy, have pledged to personally match donations made on the site CitizenEffect.org, up to $100,000.
'Born This Way' singer Lady Gaga announced yesterday (14.03.11) she has designed a wristband which will be available through her official store on her website.
