Algonquin Wilderness Eco-Lodge in Canada
The Eco-Lodge, also known as the Algonquin Nordic Wilderness Lodge, has been specially built to provide the best wilderness experience possible, while at the same time reducing any negative impacts on the environment.
Visitors will enjoy the Eco-Lodge as one of the most private and secluded hotels in the entire Algonquin Park area. The fun actually begins with a 2.3 km stroll, cycle or ski adventure that takes you on a journey through Algonquin park and to the Ecolodge's front doors. This Eco-Lodge is enveloped by the mountainous Algonquin forests, providing the feeling of a European mountain getaway. Any water lines and telephone poles are miles away and this Eco-hotel is totally off of the grid. Instead, alternative energy is supplied from a nearby waterfall, giving the Eco-Lodge all of the necessary comforts for travellers to enjoy. Electricity provided by the waterfall allows for hot showers, indoor plumbing, an outdoor wood-fired sauna and a carbon neutral hot tub. Up to 34 people can be accommodated in the hotel's 17 bedrooms.
Located just 3 hours from Toronto or Ottawa, the Algonquin Eco-lodge was a competing finalist for the 2010, "Industry Awards of Excellence: Sustainable Tourism Award." Here, depending on the season, visitors can enjoy cross country skiing, dog sledding, snowshoeing, hiking and canoeing. In addition, the fall colors are truly spectacular, making autumn a favorite time for guests to visit.
