SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 24 California-based Yahoo! Music said Tuesday it struck a deal with Gracenote that will give customers access to the words from hundreds of thousands of songs.

Gracenote Chief Executive Officer Craig Palmer notes that song lyrics are in the Top 10 when it comes to Internet searches. Palmer said its database will take the frustration out of those searches for Yahoo! Music users.

"You mean Bob Dylan isn't actually saying 'The ants, my friend, are in a bowling pin?'" Yahoo! Music General Manager Ian Rogers asked facetiously in a news release. "Finally, a free, legal and definitive way to settle a bet with the guy sitting next to you at the bar who is certain the Ramones' most famous anthem declares, 'I wanna piece of bacon.'" Gracenote features song lyrics from all five major music publishers plus those from nearly 100 other companies.
